Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep
In-person Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep at our Training Center in Rockville, MD
- Not appropriate for dogs with human or dog reactivity
- Dogs of any age may participate
About this Class:
The AKC Canine Good Citizen program was developed to test a dog’s disposition as well as a dog’s skills. Preparing for the CGC is valuable for many different reasons – training helps deepen the bond between pets and their people, passing the test is a prerequisite for many therapy dog certifications and the skills mastered in class are helpful for dogs getting ready to participate in various dog sports. This class polishes your dog’s skills to prepare your dog to take the 10 item CGC test.
Prerequisite: Basic Manners, Adolescent, or Puppy Kindergarten at Your Dog’s Friend or instructor’s permission. Most dogs that have trained with other positive trainers should be fine for class.
CGC Prep will generally be followed by a CGC test, scheduled shortly after the class ends. To learn more about the Canine Good Citizen Certificate, please visit the AKC website.
