About this Class:
The AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen program requires dogs to demonstrate CGC skills in a more urban setting that includes traffic, crowds, noises, smells and other distractions that are present in a city or town. As with Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban CGC is a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title.
Preparing for the Urban CGC title is valuable for many different reasons – manners for dogs that are training to become therapy dogs, control for dogs getting ready to compete in dog sports, and a goal for all pet dogs to achieve. Dogs that enroll must be friendly toward people and accept being around other dogs.
For the class and the test, dogs must be on a flat collar, martingale, or harness. No prong, choke, or ecollars allowed for the class or test.
Prerequisite for CGCU test: Have CGC title on record with the AKC.
Urban CGC Prep will be followed by an Urban CGC test, scheduled shortly after the class ends. To learn more about the Urban Canine Good Citizen Certificate, please visit the AKC website.
This class will meet in different locations.
