Agility

Exercise and teamwork for energetic dogs

Agility is a fast-paced, dog sport in which you guide your dog through a course of tunnels, jumps, and other obstacles, striving for both speed and accuracy. Agility is a great fit for energetic dogs who enjoy learning and working with their people. You can participate for the fun of it or to prepare for competitions. In either case, you will train skills and build teamwork as you work through the levels.

We offer three Agility levels so you and your dog can master the required basic skills before moving to more advanced stages. You can progress to the next level when you and your dog become proficient in most aspects of the current level, as determined by your instructor.

Note: Agility classes are not appropriate for dogs who display reactive behaviors (barking, lunging) toward people or other dogs. Please see our Reactive Dog Classes if your dog is displaying reactivity toward other dogs.

  • Beginner Agility introduces you and your dog to basic agility handling skills. This involves running recalls, contact work on flat boards, targeting, ladder and balance exercises, tunnel work, and low jumps, to prepare for safely using agility equipment.

Prerequisite: Puppy Kindergarten, Basic Skills for Adult & Adolescent Dogs,
or instructor’s permission.

  • Intermediate Agility builds on foundational skills as you learn to navigate a full agility course. Guide your pup through increasingly challenging obstacles, including jumps and tunnels, and learn how to safely use contact equipment, such as a dog walk and A-frame.

Prerequisite: Beginner Agility and instructor’s permission.

  • Advanced Agility builds your proficiency as you take on more challenging courses and new obstacles such as the teeter and weaves.

Prerequisite: Intermediate Agility and instructor’s permission.
